what makes a good reader?
Vladimir Nabokov believe that a good reader should notice the “fondle details.” He also states that a read shouldn’t go into reading a script with a preconceived notion. That there is nothing wrong with generalization, but it should be after everything in the story is read and collected. I believe that these are what makes a good reader. The details of a story are the most important area to pay attention to. That’s what creates the story in the imagination. If someone cannot imagine the story then they cannot follow what’s been said. I also agree that generalization of a book may be harmful to the reader. That someone shouldn’t go into a story already judging it. In laymen’s term; never judge a book by it’s cover. I believe that I am a good reader, however it does take me a little longer to understand everything due to the fact that I try to skip over the details. Which I stated earlier was the most important part of the story.
